[ 2.80GHz - Gaming Performance ]

The Core i5 750 and Core i7 860 are both limited to 245fps at 1920x1200 in Unreal Tournament 3 when clocked at 2.80GHz, while the Core i7 920 was slightly faster reaching 249fps. The Phenom II X4 965 averaged 213fps, while the Core 2 Quad Q6600 hit a brick wall at 193fps. In fact, the Core 2 Quad Q6600 performance at both 1024x768 and 1920x1200 was very similar, as this processor struggled to push the GeForce GTX 295 much harder.

The Street Fighter IV performance also showed very little difference in performance when comparing the Core i7 860 and Core i5 750 processors. Also once again the Core i7 920 did provide a small performance boost when compared to the LGA1156 processors. The Phenom II X4 965 and Core 2 Quad Q6600 were again slower than the Core i5 750 when comparing clock to clock performance.

Finally Far Cry 2, which is very CPU intensive, shows a massive difference in performance when comparing the Core i5 750 to the Phenom II X4 965 and Core 2 Quad Q6600 on a clock for clock basis. Again, very little separates the Core i5 750 and Core i7 860 processors, while even the Core i7 920 is just slightly faster.

Q6600 with budget DDR2, gives at 9 x 400 Mhz ( 3,6 Ghz ), 61,6 latency and 8244 MB/s memory read performance ( Everest ) on a X48 ( P5E - Deluxe ) motherboard.......So, this article gives a falls perception on the Q6600 capabilities after OC.
