[ Introduction ]

Today Nvidia is releasing a third GeForce 700 series GPU, the GTX 760, and we have Gainward’s version which is part of their elite Phantom series. The Gainward GeForce GTX 760 Phantom comes factory overclocked on a custom built PCB with a upgraded power delivery system and improved cooling...

Nvidia continue to unveil their GeForce 700 series with the release of the GTX 760, the first 700 series card for the mainstream. The super overpriced $1000 GTX Titan and $650 GTX 780 might have been the first 700 series cards released, but for most they mean very little.

Last month’s GeForce GTX 770 release was considerably more relevant at $400, as this particular graphics card was faster than the GeForce GTX 680 yet cost around $100 less, putting it roughly on par with the Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition in terms of price vs. performance.

Today’s release promises to be even more exciting, as we are expecting to see performance comparable to that of the Radeon HD 7950 with a price tag that is closer to that of most 7870 cards.

Like the GeForce GTX 770 and the GTX 680, GTX 670 and GTX 660 Ti before it, the GTX 760 is based on the GK104 architecture. That said, the core configuration has been cut down quite significantly when compared to the GTX 770. The good news however is that the 256-bit wide memory bus has been kept and affords the GTX 760 quite a lot of memory bandwidth.

Giving us our first look at the GeForce GTX 760 is Gainward, with their special Phantom edition graphics card which features a heavily modified board design with upgraded cooling and some factory overclocking. That being said let’s move on to check out the Gainward GTX 760 Phantom in greater detail.

Not bad performance for the price but still not amazing really. This generation is pretty boring really since its pretty much the same old tech.

Good review overall but I would have liked the GTX 770 to be included.

Gainward make beautiful cards. I have the GTX 660 Ti phantom and love it but this looks even better.
