[ Introduction ]

Today we are going to provide you with a basic step-by-step guide on how to overclock the new GeForce GTX 760 graphics card. This new mid-range Nvidia graphics card is already proving to be a popular choice among gamers, and at just $250 there is little not to like about the GTX 760. Those wanting the maximum bang for their buck are most likely interested in overclocking this new graphics card and we are going to show you how...

Overclocking is most effective when the right combination of hardware is selected, as certain processor/motherboard combos will work far better together than others. The same is true when tackling graphics card overclocking, as there are some graphics cards that overclock better than others.

[No GPUs Were Harmed in the Making of This Review]

The GeForce GTX 760 has already proven to be an excellent performer, particularly given the price tag. Still, those willing to spend a little more can get their hands on even more powerful graphics cards such as the Radeon HD 7970 or even the GeForce GTX 770.

For those unable to dish out more than the $250 it takes to get your hands on a GeForce GTX 760 there is good news, as this graphics card typically responds very well to overclocking. Typically overclocking a graphics card is really very easy as there are changes that need to be made. The hard part, or really we should say time consuming part, is finding the maximum core and memory clock speeds.

In the past we have used the Nvidia System Tools software for overclocking GeForce graphics cards as it is quick and easy to use. Better still, once installed it integrates itself into the Nvidia Control Panel. However unfortunately this software has not been updated since late 2011 and consequently only supports up to the GeForce 500 series.

Therefore we are now using MSI AfterBurner which is co-developed by MSI and RivaTuner. With that in mind let’s move on to check AfterBurner out in greater detail...

At first I could not OC my new 760 that much at all..but after the burn in period I am able to have it run stable at GPU 1359 Memory 1902..for a max bandwidth of 243.5 GB/s Texture fill rate 130.5 GTexels and a 43.5 GPixel fill rate.. I am using the Evga 760 best buy edition OC 79Mhz with the upgraded supercooler. the software I use to OC is the Evga precision X, it allows for voltage control and everything else .. however I did not increse the voltage just the GPU and Memory slider the GPU slider is set to +300 Mhz and the Memory is at +800..played a lot of intensive games no artifacts or shut downs temps at idle 40 and max load 75 happy gaming.
