[ MSI AfterBurner ]

Currently we consider AfterBurner to be the best GPU overclocking software available as it works with 90% of all graphics cards out there, including both Nvidia and AMD cards.

Before we begin go to (http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/download.htm) and download the latest version of AfterBurner, we used version 2.3.1 which was released on 23rd January 2013.

Having downloaded and installed AfterBurner the next step is to run the program and having done so you will be presented with a small application featuring a black/green color theme.

Core Voltage (mV): With the Palit GeForce GTX 760 JetStream installed the Core Voltage (mV) option is grayed out as it is not supported with this card. Should you be lucky enough to have this option enabled we suggest increasing the voltage by about 12mV.

Power Limit (%): The Power Limit slider is only accessible on GTX 600 or newer cards as it is part of the GPU boost feature. This feature was first introduced in the Kepler architecture and is designed to increase the core clock rate when the graphics card is operating below the targeted TDP (Thermal Design Power) rating.

With the Power limit slider you can increase or decrease the TDP limit by a certain percentage. Anything over 100% will extend the limit and enable the GPU to boost the core clock speed while already at 100% TDP. For our overclock we increased this value to 110%.

Core Clock (MHz): The core clock speed slider is fairly straight forward as this taps directly into the GPU’s core clock speed. However in the past we have typically entered the clock speed that we desire or drag the slider from say 500MHz to 600MHz. This is no longer the case as the user must add MHz to the existing clock speed.

Therefore in the case of the GeForce GTX 760 which operates at 980MHz we ended up adding a total of 170MHz which allowed for a core clock speed of 1150MHz. Depending on whether or not your GTX 760 is factory overclocked you might need to add less than 170MHz to achieve the 1150MHz clock speed.

Memory Clock (MHz): It’s the same deal with the memory clock, simply add onto what the card is already running at. In our case the GTX 760 was using the standard Nvidia memory specification of 6008MHz.

However the figure you see in AfterBurner is only half that of the grand total. This is because AfterBurner goes off the base clock speed and not the double data speed.

As a result AfterBurner reads the GTX 760 memory clock speed as 3004MHz. We were able to add another 436MHz taking that base clock speed to 3440MHz (6880MHz DDR).

Fan Speed (%): The fan speed slider allows you to manually set the fan speed anywhere from 30% up to 100%. If you want to keep the card as cool as possible you can manually set the fans to full speed but with most graphics cards that is going to create an awful racket. Therefore we left this setting to auto and we recommend you do the same as the fan is free to spin up when need be.

JUST BOUGHT THE GTX 760 HAWK AND AM READY TO PUT IT TO THE TEST --- THIS ARTICLE LOOKS LIKE IT WILL HELPME OUT... THINKING OF GETTING 1 MORE FOR SLI

At first I could not OC my new 760 that much at all..but after the burn in period I am able to have it run stable at GPU 1359 Memory 1902..for a max bandwidth of 243.5 GB/s Texture fill rate 130.5 GTexels and a 43.5 GPixel fill rate.. I am using the Evga 760 best buy edition OC 79Mhz with the upgraded supercooler. the software I use to OC is the Evga precision X, it allows for voltage control and everything else .. however I did not increse the voltage just the GPU and Memory slider the GPU slider is set to +300 Mhz and the Memory is at +800..played a lot of intensive games no artifacts or shut downs temps at idle 40 and max load 75 happy gaming.
