Recently Silverstone announced their latest addition to the popular Kublai series known as the KL05. This latest version offers a number of improvements over its predecessor and not only has Silverstone been able to make the KL05 better, but it is also more affordable. For more information read on... Some of the best cases of 2014 were made by Silverstone, their Raven series looked as aggressive as ever, while the latest Fortress case set the bar for cooling performance. Both the Fortress (FT) and Raven (RV) series are at the top of their game, offering innovative designs using premium materials.
![]() The only down side to all this greatness is of course the price. The Raven RV05 will set you back around $130, while the Fortress FT05 goes for even more at $180. Although both are reasonably priced considering what is on offer, a lot of users aren’t fortunate enough to be able to splash this kind of cash on a computer case. This is where the Kublai (KL) steps in, offering the same innovative design features in a more traditional package. The result is a much more affordable product that still has a great deal to offer. Already 3 years has passed since the KL04 was first introduced back in January 2012 at a cost of $100. For the most part the KL04 was a nice case with few drawbacks, but from memory we recall it being awkwardly wide. This helped with cable management as there was plenty of room behind the motherboard tray, but made fitting the KL04 into tight spaces difficult. It also looked silly with an optical drive installed. The only other downside was the weight, at 8.2kg it was a bit of a back breaker. Still it was well known for being able to accommodate ten 3.5” hard drives and for having loads of room for full length graphics cards, even with 10 drives installed. The latest take on the Kublai series appears to have addressed the issues we had with the previous model without making any real sacrifices. What’s more is the Kublai KL05 also costs considerably less at just $70. Okay Silverstone, you have our attention... |

I bought the KL04 and liked it. If I were to build again I would use this for sure. |

I prefer this case to the Raven models looks wise anyway. It is just $85 at Umart so I might pick it up next week. Thanks for the review and the great photos. |
