Manufacturer: Thermalright
Price: $ 80 US

[ Introduction ]

Finally we were able to get our hands on the mighty Thermalright Silver Arrow for a round of testing and the results will not disappoint. This massive air-cooler comes bundled with a pair of equally massive 14cm fans which help the Silver Arrow achieve new heights without creating a mini tornado inside your case...

Over the past year or so Thermalright has slowly been offering more and more “retail packaged” CPU coolers, and what this essentially means is that they are now offering heatsink/fan combos. While many of their competitors have been doing this for years, Thermalright is considered to be one of the few elite heatsink manufacturers and as such they attract the hardcore enthusiast crowd.

Generally users that are considered to be enthusiasts like to customize the hell out of their systems and the more components they can individually choose the better. In the case of the CPU cooler most enthusiasts prefer to choose their own fan as there are a number of options that can suit a range of purposes.

Those seeking the ultimate overclock are likely not all that concerned with the operating volume, while there are those that want their high-end power hungry hardware to run cool and quiet. In the past Thermalright has given the user the freedom to choose which path they want to take and while they still do this with the majority of their products, we are seeing more come packaged with a specific type of fan.

New products such as the Archon, Silver Arrow and Shaman all come with fans. In fact there is no option to just buy these products as standalone heatsinks. The most noteworthy of the products we just mentioned would have to be the massive Silver Arrow, which is the long awaited replacement of the extremely popular IFX-14 heatsink.

The heatsink alone weighs 825 grams before you even take into account the pair of 14cm fans! Although not the biggest heatsink we have ever seen, the Scythe Orochi still holds that record, the dimensions are still something to behold. The Thermalright Silver Arrow is a no compromise cooler that is designed to deliver the very best air-cooled performance of any heatsink, without drowning out your 5.1 audio system.

Epicness is what that is :D If I got one of these I would attach a third 140mm fan just for good measure ;)
