[ Test: Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. & The Last Remnant ]
Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. is an exciting new game and when run in the DirectX 10 rendering mode it is also quite demanding. At 1680x1050 the GeForce GTX 275 was 16% faster, beating the Radeon HD 4890 by 8fps. This margin shrunk considerably at 1920x1200 where the GeForce GTX 275 was found to be just 5% faster, which worked out to be 2fps. Then at 2560x1600 we had a drastic turn of events, with the GeForce GTX 275 falling to the bottom of the pack, as it trailed behind the Radeon HD 4890 by a 28% performance margin.
The Last Remnant is another new game to make its way onto PC and we are including it in this performance preview article. It appears that this game gives the Nvidia graphics cards a serious performance advantage, either that or the ATI drivers lack proper support. In any case, the GeForce GTX 275 was found to be 21fps faster at 1680x1050, giving it a 22% performance advantage over the Radeon HD 4890. This 22% performance margin remained at 1920x1200, though the GeForce GTX 275 was 17fps faster this time. Interestingly the performance margin is blown out to a 25% lead for the GeForce GTX 275 at 2560x1600, as it was 12fps faster.
