Intel looks set to release its most powerful desktop processor ever, as a German retailer pre-lists the Core i7-980 Extreme Edition ahead of an expected launch later this month...

The online retailer has overnight listed Intel’s unreleased Core i7-980 Extreme Edition processor, a six-core superslab which clocks at 3.33GHz in everyday use and redlines at 3.6 GHz in ‘turbo boost’ mode.
